Retractable Awning Installation in Philadelphia Area
Shade When You Want It.
Open Sky When You Don’t.
A retractable awning gives you control that a fixed structure can’t. Pull it out on a hot afternoon, retract it when the weather turns, and never compromise the look of your outdoor space. Everlasting fence installs retractable awnings and shade products throughout the Philadelphia area as an authorized Aristocrat Awnings dealer. Professional-grade products, installed by people who know what proper attachment to a home requires.
Whether you’re looking to make a patio usable through a Philadelphia summer, cut the heat coming through a rear-facing window, or give a commercial outdoor space some relief, the right shade product makes a real difference. Most of our work is residential awnings, and we’ll help you choose the right one for your space and install it correctly the first time.
Shade Solutions We Install
We install retractable custom awnings as our primary shade product, along with several complementary systems. What works best depends on your space, how you use it, and what you’re trying to solve.
Retractable Patio Awnings
The most popular shade solution for decks and patios. A retractable patio awning mounts directly to your home and extends over your outdoor space at the of a button or the turn of a crank. Manual and motorized options are available. Custom-sized to fit your space, with a wide selection of fabric colors and patterns. These are the most versatile shade products we install, and the right choice for most residential and commercial applications.
Drop Shades
Drop shades mount overhead and extend vertically to block sun and cut glare. They add privacy to a patio, porch, or outdoor seating area without blocking sight lines. They work well for both residential porches and commercial outdoor spaces where customers or guests need relief from direct afternoon sun. They retract cleanly when not in use.
Motorized Screens
Motorized screens drop at the touch of a button, blocking glare and keeping insects out without anyone having to lift a finger. They’re a practical choice for covered porches and screened outdoor areas where you want flexibility but don’t want to operate anything manually. Screen density varies, so you can choose how much light filtering or visibility you want.
Canopies
For spaces where a wall-mounted awning isn’t practical, freestanding or post-supported canopies provide overhead coverage without requiring attachment to the structure. Works well for pool areas, garden spaces, and commercial outdoor areas where coverage needs to stand on its own.
Screen Rooms
A screen room encloses a porch or patio with screened walls, keeping insects out while maintaining airflow. Popular for property owners who want to use their outdoor space in the evening without the bug problem. We install screen rooms as a complete enclosure system: framed, screened, and finished.
Why Installation Quality Matters
A retractable awning anchors directly to your home’s structure. Done right, it holds up against weather and keeps operating smoothly for years. Done wrong, it can pull away from the fascia, damage siding, or fail under wind load in ways that are expensive to fix. That difference comes down to choosing the right awning contractor, not just the right product.
Everlasting Fence installers are trained and certified on the products we sell. We evaluate each space before recommending a product and specify the right mounting approach for your home’s construction. That’s not something you get from a big-box kit or a crew that’s never worked with commercial-grade awning systems.
The products we install are manufactured by Craft-Bilt and sold under the Aristocrat Awnings brand. The fabric is exclusively sewn with chemically resistant materials and guaranteed against rot and mildew. They’re built to a standard that mass-market imported products don’t meet. There’s a difference in how these products perform over time, and you’ll notice it.
A properly installed retractable awning can reduce indoor temperatures, cut cooling costs, block harmful UV rays, and reduce solar heat gain through windows during direct sunlight.
From Estimate to Installation
Most awning projects move quickly once you’ve made a decision.
Schedule an Estimate
Call or fill out the form and we’ll set up a time to come out. A trained installer walks your space and looks closely at the mounting conditions before recommending a product. You’ll get a detailed quote, not a ballpark.
Choose Your Product
We’ll walk you through the options that make sense for your space: product type, size, and how you want it to operate. There are hundreds of fabric colors and patterns available. If you have something specific in mind, we can usually match it.
Permitting
Most townships in the Philadelphia area require a permit for awning installation. Requirements vary, but Everlasting Fence takes care of the permitting process as part of your project. You don’t need to navigate the municipal code yourself.
Installation Day
Most installations take half a day. Before the crew arrives, clear the area where the work will take place and keep pets and kids out of the area. Plan to be available so you can answer any questions about placement or operation. Your installer will walk you through the system before they leave.

Keeping Your Awning in Good Shape
Retractable awnings are low-maintenance, but a few habits extend their life.
Retract the awning during rain. Fabric-based awnings will develop mold if left wet for extended periods, regardless of fabric quality. The same goes for high winds. Most awnings can handle a breeze, but retracting before a storm is always the right call. High temperatures generally aren’t a concern.
If the fabric fades or shows wear over time, it can be replaced without replacing the entire unit. That’s one of the practical advantages of the systems we install. If a motor stops working, the repair process depends on the brand. Aristocrat Awnings products can generally be serviced and repaired. Non-Aristocrat motors are harder to source parts for and often can’t be repaired economically.
Signs it’s time to call us: fabric that’s faded or molded, a unit that won’t extend or retract fully, or a motor that’s stopped responding.
Warranty Coverage
Every awning installation carries a five-year workmanship warranty from Everlasting Fence. The products themselves also carry the manufacturer’s warranty from Craft-Bilt. Ask us for specifics when you schedule your estimate.
Common Questions About Retractable Awnings
Do I need a permit to install a retractable awning in Pennsylvania?
In most Philadelphia-area townships, yes. Permit requirements vary by municipality, and the process can be more involved than most people expect. Everlasting Fence handles permitting as part of every installation. We know the requirements across the counties we serve and take care of the application so you don’t have to.
How long does installation take?
Most residential awning installations are completed in half a day. Commercial projects or larger enclosure systems may take longer depending on scope.
Can awning fabric be replaced without replacing the whole unit?
Yes. On the products we install, fabric replacement is straightforward. If your awning frame is in good condition but the fabric has faded or worn, replacement is a more cost-effective option than starting over.
What’s the difference between a retractable awning and a fixed awning?
A fixed awning stays in place permanently. A retractable awning extends and retracts on demand. You control how much shade you get and can protect the fabric during bad weather. We only install retractable systems. They’re more versatile and hold up better over time when used properly.
How do I know which shade product is right for my space?
That’s a topic for discussion during the estimate visit. A retractable patio awning covers most situations, but drop shades, motorized screens, canopies, and screen rooms each solve specific problems. We’ll look at your space, how you use it, and what you’re trying to accomplish, and recommend accordingly.
Do you install awnings for commercial properties?
Yes. Retractable awnings and drop shades are popular for commercial outdoor spaces, restaurant patios, and storefronts throughout the Philadelphia area. The process doesn’t change for a commercial job: someone visits the site, looks at what you’re working with, and recommends a product that fits.
