It started in 1980 with one man, a pickup truck, and a belief that a fence company should stand behind its work long after the install is done. Michael J. Hensley built Everlasting Fence in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and the name he chose was no accident. Everlasting wasn’t just a brand. It was his promise: that the business — not just the fence — would be there when you needed it.
The business grew. Mike’s brother moved back from Colorado to join him, and what started as a one-man operation became a family partnership. Everlasting Fence Company grew into a business with deep roots in Glenside and has operated in Glenside ever since.
Over the years, they built something harder to measure than square footage: relationships. Customers who called for one fence became customers who called for three – new houses, new puppies, grown kids with yards of their own. 60% of new business today comes from referrals, and another 15% percent from returning customers. That’s not a marketing statistic. That’s what happens when you do the work right.
In 2015, the company lost Mike. It was a hard year. But the foundation he built – the culture, the crew, the commitment – held. In 2023, the founding partners retired, and Erik Egelkamp took the helm. Erik learned about the business mixing concrete, setting posts, and going home sore. So when an install isn’t right, he knows. The crew around him is built the same way. Many of them came up through this company, earned their stripes in the field, and are still here. That’s not an accident. People who take pride in their work stay. The standards Mike set in 1980 aren’t a legacy on the wall. They’re in how every fence gets built today.
