Gates take more abuse than any other part of a fence, and it shows. They’re the most common repair call we get. Constant opening and closing wears down hinges. Latches loosen. Gates sag over time as the ground shifts beneath the posts, until they stop closing flush or stop latching altogether.
Fence gate repair often comes down to hardware: replacing worn hinges, realigning a sagging frame, or fixing a latch that’s stopped catching. In some cases, the gate post itself has shifted or rotted, which means the repair goes deeper than the hardware. Either way, we diagnose what’s wrong before recommending a fix, rather than guessing.
Not every damaged fence is worth repairing, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case. The two biggest factors are the age of the fence and its overall structural condition.
A fence with isolated damage: a bad section after a storm or a single rotted post, is usually a simple repair, especially if the rest of the fence is structurally sound. A fence that’s older and showing widespread wear, multiple failing posts, or rot that’s spread beyond one section is a different conversation. At that point, putting more money into repair may not make sense compared to replacing it.
We won’t recommend a repair you don’t need. If your fence is past the point where repair makes financial sense, we’ll say so and explain why.

When we repair a fence, we’re working with existing materials, existing conditions, and sometimes existing problems we didn’t create and can’t fully account for. That’s why repair work isn’t covered under the same workmanship warranty as a new installation. We’ll still do the job right and stand behind the quality of our labor.
